The pressure was too great -- with two visitors, mother, father, and three giggling brothers looking on, he couldn't maintain the stern, dignified pose he had presented to me at first. I could see it coming, knew that he'd eventually break, and when he did I was ready. All it took was a wisecrack from Mike and all was lost.
