Street
Kid . The sun was shining brightly and the street kids were playing
marbles for small change, eyeing our cameras and asking us where we were
from. I asked a couple of them if I could take their portrait. One of them
started shouting at us, making it very clear that he did not want his picture
taken but the others were more open, curious to know what we were doing,
asking to see their photos on the screens of our digital cameras.
While we were taking photos a pair of older men, obviously street sleepers as well. They asked me if we were with the TV news. One of them them wanted me to come along with him, to see where he slept at night. I told him I couldn't come right now and he nodded. Then he thanked me for coming there and said, "Tell them how it is for us here, tell them where I sleep." I shook his hand and told him I would do my best.
