Sleeping 75 meters from the shoreline, 45 minutes out of Banda Aceh. 6 months ago 20 feet of water blew through the bottom floor of the building. It survived because it had no walls on the back side. Also 6 months ago everyone was afraid to drive the road after dark because this is GAM territory, real life civil war. The tsunami changed everything. Now the rebels have pulled back into the hills and the Muslim neighbors wave when we drive by. So much to tell -- there will be time for that later, I guess.

I guess the world needs more tsunamis.......
good to "hear your voice".
the "untouchable" US of A could benefit from a tsunami wake-up call. but then again, Bush would probably blame it on Al Qaeda and start dropping more bombs.
Hey, while we're at it maybe God can give people cancer. Or the USA could be hit by a plague.
Ooooh, maybe if we're lucky Muslims will nuke New York and kill millions of people. North Korea could nuke the west coast and then we'd see some real revival.
What kind of people would actually think suffering is something to wish for? God brings beauty out of darkness, but it's a distinct evil to wish for the darkness.
Thanks for the pics Peter, may your trip continue to be safe and curiously encouraging.
