Pat Robertson's Mouth

I'm not interested anymore in having a political blog. I'm not really even interested in having a blog that comments much on current events. But I am ashamed and appalled by this man. I hope he is taken to the cleaner's by the news media for these moronic remarks.

[8/24/05 UPDATE] Robertson responds: "I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out.' And 'take him out' can be a number of things, including kidnapping; there are a number of ways to take out a dictator from power besides killing him. I was misinterpreted by the AP, but that happens all the time."

Thanks for the clarification, Pat. It's nice to know that you're not only wise, but humble too.

[8/24/05 UPDATE II] "Robertson has made the mistake of believing that a brand of right-wing extremism is equivalent to the Gospel," said Mvume Dandala, general secretary of the Nairobi-based All Africa Conference of Churches.

I would prefer he's taken to the cleaners by the Church.

Folks send him money, he talks. Folks give him authority, he proclaims.

What a world we live in when a rock star can be better at proclaiming the fullness of Christ better than a purported preacher.

Then again, I guess that's somewhat the theme of the New Testament. Watch out for the religious leaders, for they cause all manner of problems in their conceit, as the Spirit tends to work in the fishermen and pop sensations. Well, maybe that latter category is something new for our time.

Though, I have this sneaky suspicion that Apollos wore purple shaded sunglasses.

As for Pat Robertson... being ignored is his personal hell, and ignoring him utterly is what the Church should finally get to doing.

Okay, so this is outrageous...and I'm not even certain that it's true...but a few weeks ago, a friend and I went to watch Jimmy Kimmel Live...and while in the audience, they showed Pat Robertson's NEW diet drink! Now out in GNC stores everywhere!?

Ya, I couldn't believe it, either!!

Apparently a lot of people are outraged because they are...well, you know a non-profit organization, about to profit off a diet drink.

But the truly HILARIOUS part is the commercial...check it out...google it or something. They use several dieters as a spokesperson, and then finish with none other than...Jesus, who says, "No one likes a FAT Jesus after all. He can't walk on water, heal the sick."

So weird?!!!!
